Woodland, California (July 30, 2021) – A police officer was struck and injured by a vehicle early Friday morning in Woodland, according to authorities.

The incident occurred on Interstate 5 near County Road 113 at around 12:45 a.m.

Authorities said the Woodland police officer was at the scene of a fire in the area and their vehicle was blocking a traffic lane as Woodland fire crews battled the fire.

The officer’s vehicle was struck by an inattentive driver and the impact sent the officer’s vehicle into a guardrail. The vehicle stopped after sideswiping a truck.

Police Officer Injured in Woodland Collision on Interstate 5 

The officer was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver who struck the officer’s vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
