Pasadena, California (April 5, 2019) – A woman was hospitalized Thursday evening after a high-speed pursuit ended in a traffic accident in Pasadena, according to a local news report.

The crash took place at the intersection of Orange Grove Boulevard and Holy Street Thursday, April 4.

As per the report, the officers were pursuing a stolen work truck when a man driving the truck crashed into the driver’s side of an SUV at the intersection.

The force of the impact caused both vehicles to spin out.

The female driver of the SUV was trapped inside the wrecked vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters using the Jaws of Life.

The woman was then taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. She was released from the hospital at about 5:30 Friday morning.

The suspect, identified as Fernando Frenes, 51, was arrested at gunpoint by the officers. He was transported into custody on charges of grand theft auto, evading officers, and causing great bodily injury along with his probation violation.

The crash remains under investigation.
