Wheatland, California (July 23, 2021) – A pedestrian was injured after being struck by an on-duty police officer late Wednesday night in Wheatland.
According to the Wheatland police, the accident happened at about 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, on the E Street Bridge near Marysville.
Wheatland police said one of their deputies was coming back from Marysville and was approaching the E Street Bridge when a pedestrian reportedly ran across the bridge.
The officer was unable to stop in time and hit the pedestrian.
Pedestrian Injured in Wheatland Crash
First responders arrived at the scene and rendered aid to the pedestrian. The patient was then transported to a local hospital for further treatment. The name of the victim and their condition were not immediately disclosed.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
