Wayne Richards ID’d as Pilot Killed in Santa Clarita Crash near 14 Freeway
Santa Clarita, California (January 6, 2020) – The pilot who was killed when a plane crashed in Santa Clarita Saturday morning has been identified as Wayne Richards, according to the authorities.
The wreck was reported just before 10:15 a.m. January 4, on the off-ramp of Newhall Avenue from the 14 Freeway.
Authorities said a home-built TM-1 Thunder Mustang small plane went down and clipped a tree, before crashing near the freeway. The plane then erupted into flames following the crash.

Richards, who was the sole occupant, died in the crash.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the crash.
