Watsonville, California (March 9, 2021) – A female pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Watsonville, according to a local news source.
The deadly pedestrian accident took place on Freedom Boulevard, just east of Hames Road.
According to California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was either walking on the shoulder of the road or entirely off the roadway when, for unknown reasons, a Volvo traveling eastbound on Freedom Boulevard drifted off the road and struck her.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Volvo sustained unspecified injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, police said.
The driver of the Volvo was not hurt.
It is undetermined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
