Visalia Man Killed in DUI Head-On Crash on Road 92 in Tulare
19-year-Old Visalia Man Killed in Tulare Collision on Road 92 and Avenue 260
Tulare, California (July 25, 2021) – A head-on collision has claimed the life of a teenager and left another with major injuries Saturday night just outside Tulare, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly accident occurred at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, July 24, on Road 92 and Avenue 260.
Jerry Diaz Avila, 21, of Tulare, was driving a vehicle northbound on Road 92 when, for unknown reasons, he allowed the vehicle to drift into the southbound lane, where it collided head-on with a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Visalia man, the CHP reported.

The 19-year-old Visalia man was ejected from his vehicle upon the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
A 19-year-old woman, who was riding as a passenger in Avila’s car, sustained major injuries in the crash. Her condition at this time remained unknown.
Investigators determined that Avila was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of DUI and manslaughter.
The crash remains under investigation.
