Kerman, California (July 25, 2021) – One of the people who died Saturday night following a traffic accident in Kerman has been identified as Joseph Rodriguez, 19, of Kerman, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly collision was reported at about 8:14 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at the intersection of West California Avenue and South Howard Avenue.

The CHP said Rodriguez was driving a Chevrolet pickup westbound on California Avenue at a high rate of speed when he allowed the vehicle to drift into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Rodriguez and his female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
