Turlock, CA: Major Injury Traffic Crash on Highway 99
2 Seriously Injured in Turlock Car Accident on Highway 99 near West Canal Drive
Turlock, California (August 13, 2020) – Two people were seriously injured when their vehicle fell 20-feet from an overpass onto Highway 99 and was hit by two vehicles in Turlock Thursday morning, according to police.
The crash occurred just before 8:00 a.m. on Highway 99 near West Canal Drive.
Authorities said an SUV was heading eastbound on West Canal Drive when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the roadway near the top of the overpass and fell into the slow lane of southbound Highway 99.
The SUV was then struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer. The force of the impact pushed the SUV into the fast lane, where it was struck by a second vehicle.
Witnesses told the authorities that the SUV was driving recklessly on West Canal Drive prior to the accident.

Two occupants of the SUV sustained major injuries in the crash. Their names and conditions were not immediately disclosed.
The accident caused traffic congestion for nearly one hour in the southbound lanes of the highway, resulting in another crash in the northbound lanes.
