SSU Student Dies in Rohnert Park Pedestrian Crash on East Cotati Avenue

Rohnert Park, California (July 6, 2021) – The authorities are investigating an incident in which a Sonoma State University student was fatally hit by a vehicle near a campus in Rohnert Park on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened on East Cotati Avenue near Wolf Den Plaza at around noon on Monday, July 5.
Authorities said a 21-year-old student was walking across East Cotati Avenue towards the university when he was struck by a westbound black 2015 Ford Fusion.

The student, only identified as 21-year-old Rohnert Park man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Ronald Gaither, 19, of Penngrove, contacted the authorities minutes after the accident and was located with his car on Roman Drive.
Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the incident, authorities said.
Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
