Sonoma County, CA: Bicyclist Struck, Killed by Two Cars on Petaluma Hill Road
Man Dies in Sonoma County Bicycle Accident on Petaluma Hill Road near Hopi Trail Tuesday morning
Sonoma County, California (July 23, 2019) – A bicyclist was struck and killed by two vehicles early Tuesday morning in unincorporated Sonoma County between Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly accident took place just before 12:15 a.m. on Petaluma Hill Road, just north of Hopi Trail.
According to the CHP, a man was riding his bicycle southbound on Petaluma Hill Road and not within the designated bicycle lane when he was hit by a 2009 Ford Focus that was being driven southbound by a 28-year-old Santa Rosa woman.
The force of the impact ejected the man from the bicycle and landed on the roadway, where he was then struck by a southbound 2017 Subaru Legacy driven by a 28-year-old Rohnert Park woman.
Both drivers stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The CHP said the bicyclist, who was wearing dark clothing at the time, died in the crash. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs impaired either driver, but any impairment of the bicyclist has yet to be determined.
