Shawn Chaney Among 2 Injured in Williams Car Crash on State Route 20 near State Route 16
Williams, California (May 5, 2021) – Shawn Chaney, 47, of Bonaire, Georgia, was among two people who were injured last week on Tuesday afternoon in a deadly multi-vehicle crash in Williams, Colusa County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, on State Route 20 between State Route 16 and Mitchell Flats.
The CHP said Juan Manuel Hernandez Martinez, 23, was driving a Ford Explorer eastbound on State Route 20 at a high rate of speed when, for undermined reasons, he crashed into the rear of another vehicle pulling a trailer.
After the impact, the Ford drifted into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Tundra driven by Chaney.
Chaney Toyota suffered lacerations to his right hand and complained of pain to the left side of his body.
Martinez sustained major injuries, including a broken femur and his passenger, a 44-year-old Sacramento woman, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to her injuries.
It is undetermined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
