Williams, California (May 5, 2021) – Juan Manuel Hernandez Martinez, 23, was seriously injured after being involved in a deadly three-vehicle crash last week on Tuesday afternoon in Williams, Colusa County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, on State Route 20 between State Route 16 and Mitchell Flats.
The CHP said Martinez was driving a Ford Explorer eastbound on State Route 20 at a high rate of speed when, for undermined reasons, he crashed into the rear of another vehicle towing a trailer.
After the impact, the Ford drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a westbound Toyota Tundra.
Martinez sustained major injuries, including a broken femur, while his passenger, a 44-year-old Sacramento woman, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Toyota suffered lacerations to his right hand and complained of pain to the left side of his body.
It was not immediately known whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
