Sacramento Woman Dies in Williams Crash on State Route 20 near State Route 16
Williams, California (May 5, 2021) – A Sacramento woman died last week on Tuesday afternoon following a head-on crash in Williams, Colusa County, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The deadly accident happened at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, on State Route 20 between State Route 16 and Mitchell Flats.
A Ford Explorer was heading eastbound on State Route 20 at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, it rear-ended another vehicle hauling a trailer, the CHP report states.
Due to the impact, the Ford veered into the westbound lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Tundra.
Deadly Crash on State Route 20 in Williams
A 44-year-old Sacramento woman, who was riding as a passenger in the Toyota, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to her injuries. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The Toyota driver suffered lacerations to his right hand and complained of pain to the left side of his body while the Ford driver sustained major injuries, including a broken femur.
It is still unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
