Santa Cruz, CA: Suspected Drunk Driving Pedestrian Accident on East Cliff Drive and Assembly Way

Santa Cruz, California (March 17, 2019) – Three pedestrians were hospitalized after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in Santa Cruz on Saturday evening.

According to the CHP, the incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. March 16, on East Cliff Drive and Assembly Way.

The pedestrians, a family of three, were sitting on a wall and were facing the ocean when a driver lost control and careened into them.

Three Pedestrians Hurt in Santa Cruz DUI Accident

The three victims were transported to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries was unknown but authorities do not think they were life-threatening.

The driver involved was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. The driver is also suspected of hit-and-run in crash that took place at First and Atlantic Avenue.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
