Santa Ana, California (April 26, 2021) – Two people were hospitalized after being involved in a traffic collision Saturday night in Santa Ana, a local news source said.

The two-vehicle crash happened in the area of Tustin and Santa Clara Avenues at approximately 8:20 p.m.

The accident happened when deputies attempted to stop a white Nissan pickup truck for an undisclosed code violation on April 24. the pickup operator failed to stop, and the pursuit began. The police ended the chase after the southbound Nissan ran a red light and crashed into a van traveling east on Santa Clara Avenue near East Katella Avenue and Wanda Road.

Two people riding in the van sustained major injuries and were rushed to an area hospital for medication.

The pickup truck operator sustained minor injuries and was later arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and evading arrest.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
