San Marcos, CA: Fatal Car Crash on Highway 78
Driver Killed in San Marcos Crash on Highway 78 near Twin Oaks Valley Road
San Marcos, California (March 29, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a fiery Sunday night traffic accident that killed one person in San Marcos.
The deadly accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m., on March 28, on Highway 78 near Twin Oaks Valley Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Dodge Challenger was headed westbound on the highway when it veered to the right, struck a signpost and drifted to the left.
Unfortunately, the vehicle flipped over and landed on its roof, just east of Twin Oaks Valley Road and burst into flames.
One Killed in Highway 78 Crash
Sadly, the driver who was trapped in the wreckage was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
