Lancaster, California (March 29, 2021) – Samantha Mena has been identified as the woman who was hit and killed by a vehicle while chasing suspected robbers Friday night in Lancaster, according to a local news source.
At about 8:20 p.m. Friday, March 26, authorities responded to the 44000 block of 15th Street West near Avenue J-8 for a report of a woman lying down in the street.
The incident began when Mena and her boyfriend were possibly robbed inside an apartment complex.
The three male suspects were seen running from the complex to get into a light-colored sedan. Mena chased after the suspects and was struck by their vehicle as they attempted to run away from the area.
Mena was taken to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Mena’s boyfriend suffered a head wound. His condition was not immediately disclosed.
Police are still searching for the suspects.
