Woman Injured in San Diego Car Accident on University Avenue; Driver Arrested For DUI

San Diego, California (September 24, 2020) – A woman was injured Wednesday night in an alleged DUI car accident in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego, authorities said.

The crash took place at about 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, on University Avenue.

According to the authorities, a vehicle, driven by a suspected drunken driver, was attempting to make a U-turn when it crashed into several parked cars.

The DUI driver then entered the roadway in the wrong direction and collided head-on with another vehicle.

A female occupant of the vehicle that was hit head-on was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Following the crash, the DUI driver exited the vehicle and attempted to run away, but he was apprehended by witnesses.

The suspect was also transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries before being booked into custody on suspicion of DUI.

The crash remains under investigation.
