San Diego Police Department Officer Hurt in Palm City Crash on I-5 near Palm Avenue

San Diego, California (May 29, 2019) – A San Diego Police Department officer was hospitalized following a suspected DUI collision on Tuesday night in the Palm City area, according to the CHP.
The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. May 28, on Interstate 5, just north of Palm Avenue.
CHP said a Volkswagen Jetta traveling north on I-5 clipped an SDPD patrol car parked along the side of the roadway. The impact caused the Jetta to spin out of control and it slammed into the shoulder railing.

The authorities performed field sobriety test on the female driver of the Jetta and subsequently arrested her on suspicion of DUI.
One police officer was transported to a hospital after complaining of pain.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
