2 Die in San Diego Collision on I-5 near 4th Avenue

San Diego, California (March 11, 2020) – Two people were killed in a crash involving a wrong-way driver early Wednesday morning in downtown San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on Interstate 5 near the 4th Avenue overpass at about 1:15 a.m. 

According to the CHP, a black sedan was traveling southbound on the northbound lanes of I-5 when it collided head-on with another vehicle.

2 Drivers Killed in San Diego Wrong-Way Crash

The crash left both drivers dead at the scene. Their identities were not immediately released but authorities said one of them was female and the other male.

All northbound lanes of I-5 were closed down temporarily as the crews investigated the incident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
