31-Year-Old Sacramento Man Killed in South Sacramento Crash on Highway 99 near Florin Road

South Sacramento, California (May 16, 2021) – A 31-year-old man from Sacramento was killed in a Saturday morning traffic accident that left one other party seriously injured in South Sacramento, authorities said.
The deadly traffic collision transpired at about 1:49 a.m., on May 15, on northbound Highway 99, south of Florin Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle operated by Alan Reyes, 19, of Roseville, was speeding when it veered off to avoid traffic that had slowed in front.
Unfortunately, the vehicle reportedly struck a sign and a chain-link fence along the road, then veered back onto the road and hit the center divider, ejecting a passenger onto the roadway.
Following the collision, a van driven by the 31-year-old Sacramento man collided head-on with the truck, the officials said.
After a short time, an SUV driven by a 35-year-old Sacramento man swerved to avoid the crash but ended up hitting the center divider and the passenger who had been ejected from the truck

Sadly, the 31-year-old Sacramento man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The ejected passenger was hospitalized with major injuries.
Reyes, who sustained moderate injuries, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter charges.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
