Placerville, California (April 28, 2021) – Authorities have identified the transient man who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Friday night in Placerville as Ronald Ameral, 64.

The deadly hit-and-run crash happened at around 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, on upper Broadway Drive Airport Road and a homeless encampment.

Witnesses told the authorities that Ameral was walking along the road when he was hit by a vehicle that was heading eastbound on Broadway.

Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on Broadway Drive in Placerville

First responders arrived at the scene and found Ameral suffering from major injuries as a result of the crash. The medics performed life-saving measures on Ameral and took him to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The involved driver stopped briefly and then drove off on eastbound Broadway Drive. Police described the suspect’s vehicle as a dark-colored sedan.

Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
