Raquel Jiminez-Zurita, Janet Jimenez Hospitalized after Rollover Crash on Highway 1 in Orcutt
Raquel Jiminez-Zurita and Janet Jimenez Injured in Orcutt Car Accident on Highway 1 at Solomon Road
Orcutt, California (August 4, 2020) – The two women who were injured Monday morning in an alleged DUI crash on a highway in Orcutt have been identified as Raquel Jiminez-Zurita, 22, and Janet Jimenez, 20, both of Santa Maria.
The accident happened at about 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, on Highway 1, just north of Solomon Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Jiminez-Zurita was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry northbound on Highway 1 at a high rate of speed north of Solomon Road when she swerved and lost control of the vehicle.
The Toyota then veered off the east side of the roadway and crashed into a utility pole. As a result of the crash,the vehicle was ripped into two pieces.
About 10 gallons of fuel leaked from the vehicle and sparked a small fire that was extinguished by emergency responders.
Santa Barbara Car Accident on Highway 1 Injures 2
Jiminez-Zurita and her passenger, Jimenez, were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria with minor injuries.
Jiminez-Zurita was later arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
