Sutter County, California (July 13, 2021) – Ranjit Singh Dhillon, 63, of Yuba City, was among two people who died following a traffic collision last week on Tuesday in Sutter County.

The deadly collision happened just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, on Highway 20 near North Humphrey Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, a GMC 3500 and a Nissan Titan were traveling eastbound on Highway 20 when, for unknown reasons, the GMC rear-ended the Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan apparently lost control and drifted into the westbound lane, where it collided with a Kenworth big rig.

The Nissan then burst into flames.

Dhillon, who was riding as a passenger in the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan driver also died at the scene.

The drivers of the GMC and the big rig were transported to nearby hospitals with unspecified injuries.

Highway 20 was closed in both directions following the crash.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
