Jacob Funk among 4 Injured in Williams Head-On Collision on Highway 20 near Highway 16
Colusa County, California (July 13, 2021) – Jacob Funk, 27, of Orland, has been identified as one of the four people who were injured after being involved in a deadly head-on collision in Williams, Colusa County, according to the California Highway Patrol,
The crash happened at around 7:55 p.m. Sunday, July 11, on Highway 20, just east of Highway 16.
The CHP said a 2014 Toyota Tacoma pickup was heading westbound on Highway 20 at a high rate of speed when the driver allowed the vehicle to cross over the solid double-yellow lines into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an eastbound 2017 Dodge Durango, driven by Funk.
The impact caused the Toyota’s left front door to detach.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, a 57-year-old Clearlake man, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Funk and two of his three passengers, a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, were transported airlifted to UC Davis with moderate injuries. The third passenger was airlifted to Kaiser Vacaville Hospital with major injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were considered a factor in the collision.
Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
