1 Killed, Several Hospitalized after Phelan Head-On Collision on Highway 138

Phelan, California (January 11, 2021) – A traffic collision involving multiple vehicles in Phelan on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of one person.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash site at about 12:20 p.m. along Highway 138 near Wimmer Road and Dyer-Fulp Road.
The accident involved a 2016 white Ford F-15 pickup truck, a black Jeep SUV, a black Lexus IS 250, and a green Honda Civic driven recklessly at high speed and passing automobiles on the opposite side of the highway.
The Honda reportedly crashed head-on into the Ford, then the Jeep SUV after striking the Lexus IS 250.
Due to the impact, the Jeep overturned on its side, and two people were ejected from the car. The Honda was also cut in half following the mishap.
The Honda driver, a male party, was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, where he later died.
The Ford F-150 operator and a male party riding in the Honda as a passenger were hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
The wreck resulted in the closure of the highway for an unknown time.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
