Pauma Valley, California (January 4, 2020) – A woman killed after an alleged DUI collision late Thursday night in Pauma Valley has been identified as 43-year-old Winchester woman, according to authorities.

The fatal collision happened at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, January 2, on Highway 76, a mile west of Pauma Reservation Road.

As per the CHP officials, a 22-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Prius eastbound on Highway 76 when the Toyota crossed over double yellow lines and crashed head-on into a westbound Infinity sedan. The sedan was driven by a 43-year-old Winchester woman.

The Winchester woman suffered critical injuries and was taken to the Pala fire station where she later died.

A passenger riding in Infinity, and identified only as a 44-year-old woman from San Marcos, suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized.

The Prius driver was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. She was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.

An investigation is ongoing.
