Bakersfield, California (January 4, 2020) – The rider who was seriously hurt in a motorcycle collision on Thursday night in Bakersfield has been identified as Caylob Pelayo, 19, according to a local news source.

The incident was reported at around 9:30 p.m. January 2, on Rosedale Highway near Jenkins Road.

CHP said Jeffrey Harmer, 72, was driving a Honda when he tried to make a turn into Rosedale Village Trailer Park and collided with a motorcycle driven by Pelayo.

Caylob Pelayo Injured in Bakersfield Motorcycle Collision

Pelayo had a helmet on and sustained major injuries. He was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.

Harmer was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash, CHP said.

The CHP is investigating the crash.
