Pilot Killed in Pacoima Plane Crash at North Sutter Avenue near Whiteman Airport

Pacoima, California (November 12, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Thursday morning fiery plane crash that killed the pilot in Pacoima.
The fatal single-engine plane crash transpired at about 11:44 a.m. in the 10600 block of North Sutter Avenue near Whiteman Airport.
According to the police, a Cessna 172 single-engine plane crashed just on the final approach to Runway 12 on the west side of the airport, coming down near three residential buildings.
Following the accident, the Civil Air Patrol owned plane reportedly caught fire, engulfing at least two vehicles, trees, and vegetation in front of a residential home. The first responders contained the fire.

Sadly, the pilot who was the sole occupant of the plane sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.
The crash will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
