Oceanside, California (February 5, 2019) – Three people were killed while four others were injured after a high-speed traffic collision Tuesday afternoon at an intersection in Oceanside, according to a local news source.

The collision happened a while before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Coast Highway and Oceanside Boulevard.

As per the report, a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was driving southbound on Coast Highway when it broadsided a silver Mazda that was heading eastbound on Oceanside Boulevard for reasons still under investigation. Six persons were reportedly in the Mazda at the time.

The impact ejected two people including a 13-year-old girl out of the back window of the Mazda.

Authorities confirmed that two back-seat passengers in the Mazda identified as adult women were declared dead at the scene while a third person died at the hospital. The truck driver, a 19-year-old man, was not hurt in the collision.

Officials said that drugs or alcohol were not suspected to be factors in the collision.

Authorities closed Coast highway at Eucalyptus to the north and Godfrey Street to the south following the collision.

No other information concerning this incident was provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
