Norma Garcia ID’d as Woman Killed in Highway 108 Crash near Lancaster Road in Oakdale

Oakdale, California (April 30, 2021) – The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the woman who died after a traffic crash between a sedan and box truck Friday morning east of Oakdale as Norma Garcia, 27, of Turlock.
The deadly accident happened at around 6:10 a.m. on Highway 108, just east of Lancaster Road.
The authorities said Garcia was driving westbound on Highway 108 and was approaching a bend in the roadway when, for unknown reasons, her 2006 Volkswagen sedan drifted into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming International box truck.
As a result of the collision, both vehicles came to a stop in the eastbound lane with major damage.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and pronounced Garcia dead at the scene. The driver of the box truck suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
It is still unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
