Masla Mani among 3 Killed in Highway 99 Accident near Elverta Road in Sacramento County
Sacramento County, California (April 30, 2021) – Masla Mani, 68, of Sacramento, was among three people who died Wednesday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash in Sacramento County, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The deadly crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, on Highway 99, just south of Elverta Road.
According to the authorities, Nitya Raju, 67, of Antelope, was driving a silver Toyota Corolla northbound on Highway 99 when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle was rear-ended by a Mercury Mountaineer driven by a 62-year-old Butte Valley woman.
After the impact, the Corolla came to a stop in the number two lane of northbound Highway 99 and was again rear-ended by a 30-foot Penske box truck.
As a result of the crash, three occupants of the Corolla were pinned inside the vehicle.

Raju and one of his two passengers, Mani, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Lanes of the highway were shut down for several hours as the investigation and cleanup took place.
Alcohol, drugs, or speed were not considered a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
