Norberto Vidales Killed in Selma Pedestrian Accident on Manning Avenue near Leonard Avenue
Selma, California (January 1, 2019) – The pedestrian who was fatally hit by a suspected DUI driver early Sunday morning just outside of Selma has been identified as Norberto Vidales, 27, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 3:44 a.m. December 30, the CHP received a report regarding a car hitting a pedestrian on Manning Avenue, just west of Leonard Avenue.
The CHP said Vidales was walking on the road when, for an unknown reason, he was struck by a 2004 Honda Accord that was traveling eastbound on Manning approaching Leonard.
The driver of the Honda, Richard Flores, 30, of Selma, was able to see the man but was unable to stop in time to avoid striking the pedestrian.
Vidales was declared dead at the scene.
Flores was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
CHP is investigating the crash.
