National City, California (February 11, 2020) – A woman was on Monday afternoon hospitalized with major injuries after being struck by a vehicle at an intersection in National City, according to a local news source.

The incident happened at the intersection of 21st Street and Highland Avenue at about 12:20 p.m. February 10.

According to the news source, a 2019 Toyota pickup was making a turn from 21st Street onto Highland Avenue when it struck a woman walking in a marked crosswalk.

The victim, a 49-year-old woman, was transported to a trauma center with serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup, a 29-year-old man, remained at the scene. The driver was suspected to have been distracted.
