Rider Dies in Fatal Sacramento Crash on Watt Avenue and Kentfield Drive

Sacramento, California (December 9, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in a traffic accident at an intersection in Arden Arcade, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The deadly crash happened at about 1:03 p.m. Sunday, December 8 on Watt Avenue and Kentfield Drive.

According to the CHP, a 48-year-old Sacramento man was riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle at approximately 70 miles per hour on southbound Watt Avenue when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Kentfield Drive and was struck by Hyundai Elantra that was heading eastbound with a green light.

The rider sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has been released pending notification of family.

The driver of the Hyundai stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

Southbound lanes of Watt Avenue were shut down for around two hours as the authorities investigated the crash.
