Michael Koroma, Kayla Farr, Charleen Long Hurt in 4-Vehicle Crash on Highway 53 in Lower Lake
Michael Koroma, Kayla Farr and Charleen Long Injured in Lower Lake Crash on Highway 53 near Anderson Ranch Parkway

Lower Lake, California (January 6, 2019) – Three people were injured Thursday afternoon in a four-vehicle collision near Lower Lake, according to a local news source.
The multi-car accident happened just before 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3 on Highway 53, just south of Anderson Ranch Parkway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2006 Mitsubishi Montero driven by Michael Koroma, 58, of Ukiah, stopped within the northbound No. 1 lane of Highway 53, with traffic conditions reported to be moderate at the time.
The CHP said a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Kayla Farr, 24, of Hidden Valley Lake, was traveling northbound on Highway 53 in the No. 1 lane, south of Koroma, and was behind a large vehicle which blocked Farr view ahead.
The operator of the larger vehicle ahead of Farr noticed Koroma’s car stopped in the lane and swerved to the right and avoided a rear-end crash.
As a result, once Farr was able to see the Mitsubishi, she had a split second to react. She then applied the brakes to avoid crashing into the rear of the stopped car.
The CHP said a 2009 Ford Focus driven by Tricia Snider, 48, of Hidden Valley Lake, was directly behind Farr’s vehicle. According to the officials, Snider was unable to react to the changing traffic conditions ahead and rear-ended Farr’s vehicle.
The force of the impact pushed Farr’s car to the left and went along the left side of Koroma’s vehicle. At the same time, Koroma had got out of his vehicle and was standing in Farr’s path of travel when he was struck by the Ford Fusion that was passing by.
The Ford Focus also continued forward and slammed into the back of the Mitsubishi.
The CHP said Charleen Long, 33, of Lower Lake, was driving the fourth vehicle involved, a 2012 Ford Focus and was directly behind Snider. Long was also unable to react and rear-ended Snider’s car.
Koroma was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries. Farr and Long both sustained minor injuries. Snider was not injured.
All three victims were wearing their seatbelts.
The northbound lanes of Highway 53 were shut down for around one hour as emergency crews worked to clear the crash.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the collision. CHP is investigating the crash.
