64-Year-Old Michael Diehl Killed in Newark Pedestrian Crash on Newark Boulevard near Cedar Boulevard
Newark, California (October 3, 2019) – A man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident that took place on Sunday night in Newark, according to the Newark Police Department.
The incident took place just before 8:30 p.m. September 29, on Newark Boulevard just north of Cedar Boulevard.
Police said emergency crews responded to the incident and located a severely injured man. The victim was attended to before being taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.
Michael Diehl Killed in Newark Pedestrian Crash
The victim succumbed to his injuries shortly before 9:15 p.m. He was identified by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division as Michael Diehl, 64.
The driver of the involved vehicles, a 36-year-old Pinole man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Alcohol and drugs were unlikely factors in the crash, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
