Merced, California (October 13, 2019) – Two pedestrians were struck and injured by a vehicle late Friday night in Merced, according to a local news source.

The accident happened Friday, October 11 on 16th Street near Canal Street.

According to police,  two women, ages 70 and 56, were crossing 16th Street when for an undetermined reason, they were struck by a vehicle.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and rendered aid to the victims who sustained unspecified injuries following the crash.

Both patients were then taken to a hospital in Modesto, where they were listed in stable condition. Their names were not immediately available.

It was immediately unknown if the driver of the vehicle involved stopped after hitting the two pedestrians.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
