Santa Ana, California (October 13, 2019) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday morning in Santa Ana, police said.

The wreck was reported at about 9:58 a.m. October 12, in the area of Susan Street and Westminster Boulevard.

According to Santa Ana police, a silver 2004 Honda Civic was stopped on Susan Street, facing north on Westminster Boulevard. The driver then entered the intersection to turn left and was struck on the side by a burgundy 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling in the number 2 lane on Westminster Boulevard.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver of the Honda from the wreckage. He was then rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced deceased. His identity was not immediately released.

The woman driving the SUV and two children in her vehicle sustained minor injuries and were transported to Garden Grove Hospital.

Police said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be a factor in the collision.

The crash is under investigation.
