32-Year-Old McFarland Man Killed, 2 Injured in Bakersfield Car Crash on Famoso-Porterville Highway at Driver Road

Bakersfield, California (January 11, 2021) – A McFarland man was killed and two other people were injured Sunday night in a traffic accident in Bakersfield, according to a local news source.
The deadly crash occurred at around 8:29 p.m. Sunday, January 10, on Famoso-Porterville Highway at Driver Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 32-year-old McFarland man was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on Driver Road towards the intersection of Famoso-Porterville Highway when he allegedly ran a red light and rear-ended a 2013 Freightliner truck.
The CHP said the Freightliner truck was also heading southbound on Driver Road and had just entered the intersection from the stop sign when it was struck from behind by the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet driver, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, died in the crash.
Two people in the Freightliner, both from Bakersfield, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
