Oceanside, California (February 5, 2019) – Mason Fish has been arrested after a fatal collision that claimed three lives and injured four others Tuesday afternoon in Oceanside, according to a local news source.

The collision happened a while before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Coast Highway and Oceanside Boulevard.

As per the report, a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was heading southbound on Coast Highway when it broadsided a silver Mazda with six people inside traveling eastbound on Oceanside Boulevard. Officials said that the truck ran a red light at the intersection while the sedan had a green light at the time.

The impact ejected two people including a 13-year-old girl out of the back window of the Mazda.

Authorities confirmed that two back-seat passengers in the Mazda identified as adult women were declared dead at the scene while a third person died at the hospital.

Four people were injured in the collision and were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries of unspecified degree. One of the victims was airlifted to the hospital. The fatal victims and the injured persons’ names have not yet been released.

The truck driver, Mason Fish, 19, was not hurt in the collision. Medics evaluated him at the scene and released him. Police later arrested Fish for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Although the roads were wet officials said they did not suspect the weather to be a factor in the collision. It was also not raining at the time of the crash.

Authorities closed Coast Highway at Eucalyptus to the north and Godfrey Street to the south following the collision.

No other information concerning this incident was provided was available.

An investigation is ongoing.
