Maria Del Carmen Estrada De Dore ID’d as Woman Killed in Alpine Crash on Interstate 8 near Tavern Road
Alpine, California (June 4, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman who died Thursday evening following a fiery traffic accident in Alpine as Maria del Carmen Estrada de Dore, 63, of San Diego.
The deadly crash happened at around 6:00 p.m., on June 3, on westbound Interstate 8 near Tavern Road.
Authorities said a black 2000 Toyota Solara sedan collided with a black 2006 GMC Sierra pickup on Interstate 8.
Both vehicles were traveling westbound on Interstate 8 when the accident occurred.
After the impact, the two vehicles veer toward the center median. The Solara Reportedly came to rest in the median while the Sierra rolled down a descending embankment before it stopped in the eastbound lanes.
Following the collision, at least one vehicle caught fire which spread to nearby brush, the CHP said.
Interstate 8 Crash in Alpine Kills San Digo Woman
Estrada de Dore, who was riding as a passenger in the rear seat of the Sierra, was ejected from the truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 65-year-old Chula Vista man, and the passenger in the front seat of the Sierra, a 58-year-old San Diego woman, were transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego with major injuries.
The driver of the Solara, an 18-year-old Los Angeles man, was also taken to the same hospital with major injuries.
Two eastbound lanes were closed while the investigation and cleanup took place. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
