Marco Garcia Dies in Bakersfield Pedestrian Collision on Edison Highway near Exchange Street

Bakersfield, California (February 25, 2020) – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

Marco Antonio Garcia, 34, was killed in the collision that took place at about 12:23 a.m. February 23, on Edison Highway near Exchange Street.

According to the report, Garcia was walking on Edison Highway when a car struck him and fled the scene.

Garcia was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police later arrested a suspect in connection with the incident. The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Jonathan Lopez. He was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.

The authorities are investigating the incident.
