Woman Dies in Wrigley Bicycle Accident on Willow Street and Golden Avenue

Long Beach, California (January 5, 2019) – A woman was killed when her bicycle was involved in a collision with a vehicle on Thursday night in the Wrigley neighborhood, according to the Long Beach police.
The crash happened at about 6 p.m. January 3 on Willow Street and Golden Avenue.
Police said a 50-year-old man from Long Beach was driving a 1993 Ford Explorer westbound on Willow Street when he entered the intersection and struck a bicyclist who was crossing northbound on Golden Avenue.
The victim, a 64-year-old woman, was rushed to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her identity was withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and reportedly cooperated with the investigators.
Police said alcohol and drugs were unlikely factors in the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
