San Joaquin County, California (April 27, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon in a collision with a truck near Lodi, San Joaquin County, according to authorities.

The deadly accident crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 5, just south of State Road 12.

The motorcyclist was heading northbound on Interstate 5 when, for unknown reasons, the rider slammed into a big rig that was also traveling northbound, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to the CHP, the motorcyclist died in the accident. The name of the rider has not been released pending family notification.

The no. 2 and 3 lanes of northbound Interstate 5 near Flag City were closed following the wreck.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
