Kelly Cass Seriously Injured in Citrus Heights Skateboard Accident at Auburn Boulevard and Charwood Lane
Citrus Heights, California (January 6, 2019) – A 27-year-old woman was struck and severely injured by a suspected drunken driver last month at an intersection in Citrus Heights, according to a local news source.
The accident happened at an unspecified time Thursday, December 27 in the area of Auburn Boulevard and Charwood Lane.
As per the report, Kelly Cass was riding a skateboard in the area not far from her apartment when she was struck on the bike lane by a car driven by Angel Diego Huerta, 27, of Sacramento.
First responders found Cass inside the suspect car in the 6900 block of Mariposa Avenue. The local news source reported that Huerta possibly rendered aid to Cass after the accident but later ditched the car with the victim in it and fled on foot.
Cass was immediately taken to the hospital with major injuries. As of Thursday, half the muscles in Kelly’s right leg were removed due to the loss of blood and risk of infection.
According to officials, Huerta was arrested and charged on suspicion of striking Cass and driving off with her upside down in the passenger seat for an additional three miles.
The crash remains under investigation.
