Stockton, California (December 20, 2019) – 23-year-old Kalesha Johnson has died days after a rear-end collision that killed her 1-year-old son Saturday night in the area of Stockton, according to a local news source.

The collision happened a while after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14, on 5 Freeway near Charter Way.

As per the report, a San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputy cruiser crashed into Johnson’s sedan for reasons still under investigation. The impact caused the woman to lose control and slide down an embankment.

The baby, identified as 1-year-old Kevin Hart, was in the back seat at the time of the crash. He was airlifted to a children’s center where he died.

Johnson and the deputy were also taken to the hospital for treatment.  The deputy was later released while Johnson ,who was critically injured, spent four days in the hospital before succumbing to her injuries.

Officials did not suspect alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the collision.
