Teiwaz Steenblock-Smith Killed in Benbow Crash on Highway 101 near Benbow Drive

Benbow, California (December 20, 2019) – Authorities have identified 32-year-old Teiwaz Steenblock-Smith as one of the drivers killed after a head-on collision on Wednesday morning in the area of Benbow, Southern Humboldt.
The deadly crash happened at about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, on Highway 101, south of Benbow Drive.
As per the CHP officials, Steenblock-Smith was heading northbound on Highway 101 in a white 1994 Honda Accord when at the same time a gray 2017 Toyota Prius was traveling southbound.
The Honda then crossed into the southbound lanes directly into the Toyota’s path and the two vehicles slammed head-on. The two vehicles came to rest partially blocking the southbound lanes.
Fatal Crash on Highway 101 in Benbow
Both Steenblock-Smith and the Toyota driver died in the collision.
Officials said two dogs riding in the Honda also died in the collision.
It was not immediately known whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
Those who responded to the crash include the California Highway Patrol, Redway and Garberville Volunteer Fire, Caltrans, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and City Ambulance.
An investigation is underway.
