Palm Springs, California (June 25, 2021) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau has identified the pedestrian who died early Friday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Palm Springs as John Grizzell Jr., 28, of Palm Springs.

The deadly accident happened at around 4:07 a.m. on East Palm Canyon Drive, just east of South Broadmoor Drive.

Grizzell was struck by a vehicle for an unknown reason on East Palm Canyon Drive.

Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Palm Springs

Grizzell was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved did not stop to render aid to Grizzell and fled the area. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 2005 or 2006 Nissan Altima, possibly silver in colour and likely has fresh damage to its hood, windshield and passenger side.

Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.

All southbound and eastbound lanes were shut down during the investigation.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
