Santa Ynez, California (June 25, 2021) – The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has identified the motorcyclist who died Thursday morning following a traffic collision near Santa Ynez as Frank Butcher, 70, of Santa Barbara.

The deadly motorcycle accident occurred at about 10:50 a.m. Thursday, June 24 near the intersection of Baseline Avenue and Linda Vista Drive.

Authorities said Butcher was riding his motorcycle in the area when he collided with an SUV.

Man Killed in Santa Ynez Motorcycle Crash Identified

First responders arrived at the location and found Butcher suffering from an apparent cardiac event. Despite life-saving measures performed by the medical personnel, Butcher was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately clear whether the other driver was injured.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
